Salvage Yard Manager

Work in a natural building materials showroom and salvage yard in downtown Tucson. Learn about environmentally friendly interior finishes and alternatives to standard building materials while educating customers.

This role centers on working directly with incoming salvage, including receiving, sorting, organizing, pricing, and staging items such as doors, windows, fixtures, and lumber. Much of the work takes place in an outdoor barn and yard environment, so candidates should be comfortable in varying weather conditions and able to safely lift and move heavy or awkward items. Additional responsibilities include photographing inventory for social media, researching select pieces to understand their origins and historical significance, assisting with general yard upkeep and maintenance, and helping create visually engaging displays using reclaimed materials. Customer interaction will occur occasionally, especially with those interested in architectural salvage.

Skills and experience preferred include: customer service or retail sales, strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task, basic photography skills, some lifting and carrying of heavy items, computer proficiency, and the ability to learn quickly. Familiarity with tools, material handling, construction or architectural elements, and blueprint reading are a plus. A creative eye for repurposing materials and a problem-solving mindset are highly valuable. A general knowledge of and a passion for green building, environmentally friendly construction, historic preservation, and a reuse-focused way of living is a must. Architecture, interior design, construction, or related backgrounds are preferred but not required. Must be flexible and open to learning. Every day will be different!

Approximately 20-25 hours/week.

Pay range $20-$25/hour.
