Mayan Pigments

Clay-based pigments made with ancient Mayan techniques. This specific blue color is based off a process developed to recreate the Mayan blue pigment found in Mesoamerican artifacts and archaelogical sites. The process involves heat-treating indigo dye with palygorskite (formerly known as attaplugite) clay. What is particularly interesting about Maya Blue is it’s durability. Despite long exposure to light and high humidity for centuries, it hardly fades.
